Approximately 25% of our total production is devoted to Chardonnay from cold, coastal sites in Russian River and Sonoma Coast
La Pommeraie Vineyard Chardonnay
Owned and farmed by George Martinelli, this vineyard on Frei Road was once an apple orchard. We chose the name La Pommeraie, french for apple orchard, to pay homage to the site and its history. This meticulously farmed vineyard is closely planted with a very high density of 2420 vines per acre. A blend of Dijon 95 and Old Wente Chardonnay selections this complex and powerful wine has amazing aromatic complexity and flavors of candied lemon and baked pear. This wine is part of our spring release.
Russian River Chardonnay
This Chardonnay comes from Dutton Vineyards in Green Valley. The fruit is harvested early in the morning and rigorously hand-sorted, prior to whole cluster pressing and barrel fermentation with indigenous yeasts. It sees 14 months of oak aging and is a delicious chardonnay with layers of sweet apple and candied pear, roasted hazelnut, and a touch of vanilla. Intriguing and complex. This wine is part of our spring release.
Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
This wine comes from one of Lee Martinelli's vineyards out on the coast. It is exceptionally complex with layer after layer of flavor. We are honored to have this wine in our portfollio. It will be offered for release the first time in the fall of 2009.
