Approximately 65% of our total production is devoted to Pinot Noir from cold, coastal sites in both Russian River and Sonoma Coast AVAs as well as Anderson Valley.
Cohn Pinot Noir
Planted in 1975, this spectacular Pinot Noir Vineyard would be considered old by California standards. Orginally planted to a massale selection of Pinot Noir (likely Martini 13 and Pommard) Cohn outdates most other plantings in the Russian River Valley by 20 years. The resulting wine, from our most prestigious estate vineyard, is dominated by intense black cherry and raspberry aromas with layers of spice. Year after year this site's hallmark is an ethereally-floral aromatic quality, fine tannins and a long complex finish. This wine is part of our fall release.
Savoy Pinot Noir
Located north of Philo, Rich Savoy has been farming Pinot Noir from this vineyard in the Anderson Valley for 20 years. We vinify 5 clones of Pinot Noir (Calera, Dijon 113,115, Martini 13 and Pommard) separately and select only the best barrels for our single vineyard wine. Our Savoy Pinot Noir is deeply colored with complex blackberry, mineral and orange peel notes. It tends to be earthier than its counterparts from the Russian River or Sonoma Coast. This massively structured wine will evolve more slowly than our other Pinots, but will offer great reward with 6-8 years of patience. This wine is part of our fall release.
Bella Una Pinot Noir
In crafting this Pinot Noir our objective was to create a wine that was the best possible expression of all of the sub-regions of the Russian River Valley. A blend of Pinot Noir from several different vineyards this wine captures the black fruits indicative of Green Valley, the red fruit aspects of the Middle Reach and earth and spice of Laguna de Santa Rosa. This blend is the winemakers’ most personal expression. The alluring aromas of vine-ripened blackberries, lilac and sandalwood converge with exotic east-Asian spices and earth elements to produce an amazingly complex wine. The heady aromas lead into equally vibrant flavors of black cherry and raspberry all framed by sweet, generous tannins. This wine is part of our fall release.
Sonoma Coast Blend Pinot Noir
A composition of exceptional small-block vineyards, this wine is sourced from our estate vineyard and family growers in the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast. Aromas of red raspberry, sour cherry, and toasted nutmeg are followed by flavors of black cherry, cinnamon and allspice. The wine’s juicy mouthfeel is supported by centered acidity, fine grain tannins and an intensely complex finish. This wine is part of our spring release.
